Bridge players are excellent problem solvers; that is nothing new. Therefore, from February 23, 2000, Scania Bridgekonsult invites its readers to a slightly different competition, free to enter for anyone; and the two best solutions (or more) will be rewarded with bridge books from our store. Therefore, don't hesitate to enter. You have nothing to lose, much to gain.

Deadline for our 43rd problem was October 31, 2012, It was obviously a difficult problem, since I didn't receive any perfect solution. Lars Andersson and Hans Göthe did some good reasoning, though, so they receive the book prizes this time.

When the deal above was played recently, something odd happened. I have never experienced it before during my 40+ years of playing bridge. I was East, the opening lead was the C2, and when play was over, we could record plus 920 to East-West without North-South making a revoke. How was that possible?

When you understand why East-West scored +920 on the deal, send your solution to Scania Bridgekonsult no later than February 28, 2013. The simplest way is to send an e-mail, of course, but if you prefer an ordinary letter, send it to Scania Bridgekonsult, Barkåkragatan 8, SE-216 22 Limhamn, Sweden. Good Luck!
